Our philosophy

"Time to grow and blossom"

On any given day in our center you may find chilldren building towers from wooden blocks, pretending to be butterflies, creating with paints, digging earthworms or baking bread! These experiences provide children with the time they need to develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically, in a loving and safe environment with the guidance of a trained teacher.

Children do most of their important learning before the age of 5. That is why at the Berln Center we carefully plan our activities according to early childhood development. We believe in "learning through play" as a means to happy children who love to learn, be curious, to have an imagination, and to explore their world.

Most importantly, at the heart of every project and activity, there is a specially trained teacher and age-appropriate curriculum to lead the way. Children need "hands on" experiences that give them the joy and satisfaction of doing things themselves.

We stress to our staff the need for equal treatment, respect, and acceptance of all children. We feel this is important in developing high self esteem and appropriate social behavior. In return, the staff expects the appropriate level of respect from the children. We emphasize to our staff the need to set fair guidelines, positive reinforcement, and redirection as main guiding behavior procedures. Most importantly, we emphasize the need to "listen" to the child as an individual.

We believe that children are entitled to a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where they receive as well as contribute. We believe that children learn best when they are having fun and making friends. We believe that children should be encouraged to "be all that they can be." This is the mission of the Berlin Center for Child Care.
